I’m not a huge fan of cell phones because I don’t like being reachable 24/7. I like the idea of having some time all to myself. Part of me kind of wants to be cell phone free, but I do like having one for dating purposes and for emergency purposes.
So for the immediate future, I’ll be keeping my cell phone.
But I have a rule. I call it the 12 o’clock rule, and it consists of two parts:
- I turn my phone off when I go to bed at night, and
- I don’t turn it on again till around 12 o’clock (noon) the next day.
It’s great having those morning hours be mine, all mine. I can be productive and get stuff done without being distracted. I’m all alone and unreachable, and it feels fantastic.
